Narrative
Just before 9:00 PM on Wednesday, June 25, 2026, first responders were dispatched to a wrong-way head-on collision on Route 290 Eastbound at mile marker 29 in Northborough, Massachusetts, involving a Subaru and a Jeep. Upon arrival, both vehicles were fully engulfed in flames, and a State Police trooper on scene reported being unable to extract occupants due to the volume of fire.
The female driver of the Jeep was found standing on the side of the highway, conscious but confused, with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Subaru was pronounced deceased at the scene, with Fire Chief Neal Aspesi stating that nothing could have been done to save the patient. Identities of both drivers had not been released at the time of publication.
