Narrative
On Tuesday, July 15, 2026, at approximately 10:20 p.m., Massachusetts State Police received multiple 911 calls reporting a wrong-way driver traveling westbound on Interstate 290 near Mile Marker 29 in Northborough, Massachusetts. Shortly thereafter, two separate drivers reported striking the guard rail after swerving to avoid the alleged wrong-way vehicle.
One driver was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Both vehicles involved in the guard rail impacts were towed from the scene. The reported wrong-way operator was not located during an initial search of the area.
