Narrative
On Saturday, June 20, 2026, at approximately 2:00 p.m., Boston Police responded to the 1600 block of Blue Hill Avenue in Mattapan after a suspect, identified as Ibraim Matos, 37, of Hyde Park, was involved in an initial crash at Woodhaven Street and Blue Hill Avenue, then allegedly carjacked a vehicle near a nearby car wash before speeding southbound on Blue Hill Avenue at an estimated 70 miles per hour.
Matos struck an adult female pedestrian at the intersection of Fairway Street and Blue Hill Avenue, dragging her before continuing down the street and crashing into an MBTA bus; the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene, and Matos was transported to the hospital with injuries sustained in the crash.
Matos was charged with murder, carjacking, leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death, and leaving the scene of an accident resulting in personal injury, and is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court; witnesses intervened and physically restrained Matos until police arrived.
