Narrative
At approximately 2:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, a Massachusetts State Trooper responding to reports of a wrong-way driver was struck head-on by that driver on Route 1 northbound in Lynnfield, Massachusetts. The wrong-way driver was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes when the collision occurred.
The trooper sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to a Boston hospital, where he later died. The wrong-way driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Two fatalities were reported as a result of this crash.
