Narrative
On Thursday, June 26, 2026, at approximately 4:00 p.m., a fatal collision occurred at the intersection of Portland Street and 5th Avenue in Haverhill, Massachusetts, when a motorized scooter carrying two children struck a school bus. The 12-year-old girl riding the scooter, a student of Haverhill Public Schools, was transported to a local hospital where she later died from her injuries; her identity has not been released pending family notification.
A second child who was also riding on the scooter sustained serious injuries and was likewise transported to a local hospital. The school bus sustained no described structural damage, while the black motorized scooter was visibly damaged at the scene.
