Narrative
In the early morning hours of Friday, May 30, 2026, a bus traveling on southbound Interstate 95 in Stafford County, Virginia crashed into multiple vehicles, including a Chevrolet Suburban and an Acura SUV, before overturning in the median. The Doncev family of Greenfield, Massachusetts — Dimitri (45), Ecaterina (44), daughter Emily (13), and son Mark (7) — were passengers in the Acura SUV and were killed when the bus forced the Chevrolet Suburban into their vehicle, causing the Acura to catch fire. According to a family member, the Doncevs were traveling to a family wedding in South Carolina at the time of the crash.
A total of five people were killed, including a 25-year-old woman from Worcester, Massachusetts, who was in the Chevrolet Suburban. Forty-four additional people were transported to area hospitals following the crash.
