Narrative
Just before midnight on Saturday, June 27, 2026, Massachusetts State Police responded to a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 93 northbound before Exit 15A in Dorchester after 81-year-old Antone Carvalho, of Somerset, entered I-93 north at Exit 15B and proceeded to drive southbound in the northbound lanes. A Honda Odyssey and an Audi A4 attempted to avoid the wrong-way vehicle and crashed, with the Odyssey’s occupants — a family of four — transported to a Boston hospital for evaluation.
Shortly after those initial collisions, Carvalho’s Cadillac Escalade struck a Chevrolet Cruze head-on. Both drivers were transported to Boston-area hospitals, where the Cruze driver — a man in his 20s from Haverhill, Massachusetts — died from his injuries. The victim’s name had not been released as of the time of this report. Carvalho is expected to be issued a summons to appear in court, and the charges he may face remain unclear.
