Narrative
On June 24, 2026, a fiery multi-vehicle crash occurred on the eastbound lanes of the Mass Pike (I-90) in Charlton, Massachusetts, at mile marker 82.1 near Exit 81. Aerial footage from Sky5 showed one vehicle completely burned out and being towed from the scene, while a second vehicle sustained visible rear and side bumper damage. Crews were observed sweeping and hosing ashes from the roadway following what appeared to be a significant fire on the highway.
It is unclear if any occupants sustained injuries or fatalities as a result of the crash. Both vehicles were towed from the scene, and MassDOT warned that traffic impacts were expected to continue into the evening commute, advising drivers to seek alternative routes.
The cause of the crash and fire remain under investigation. Full details are developing.
