Narrative

On Saturday, June 20, 2026, at approximately 2:00 p.m., Boston police responded to the 1600 block of Blue Hill Avenue in Mattapan after a stolen vehicle struck and killed a female pedestrian on the sidewalk near the intersection of Fairway Street and Blue Hill Avenue. The suspect, Ibraim Matos, 37, of Hyde Park, had allegedly been involved in an initial crash at Woodhaven and Blue Hill Avenue before carjacking a second vehicle near a nearby car wash and fleeing south on Blue Hill Avenue at a high rate of speed.

The female pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene; her identity has not been released. Matos was transported to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries. Several other vehicles, including an MBTA bus, sustained damage during the incident. Witnesses intervened, physically restraining Matos until police arrived and placed him under arrest.

Matos has been charged with murder, carjacking, leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death, and leaving the scene of an accident resulting in personal injury; he is scheduled to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court. Full details are developing.
