Narrative
On Saturday, June 20, 2026, at approximately 2:00 p.m., Boston Police responded to the 1600 block of Blue Hill Avenue in Mattapan after Ibraim Matos, 37, of Hyde Park, was involved in an initial crash at Woodhaven and Blue Hill Avenue, then allegedly carjacked a vehicle near a nearby car wash and fled south on Blue Hill Avenue. Matos struck a female pedestrian at the intersection of Fairway Street and Blue Hill Avenue, dragging her before continuing down the road, and subsequently collided with an MBTA bus and several other vehicles.
The female pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene; her identity has not been released. Matos was transported to a hospital to be treated for his injuries. Witnesses intervened, pulling Matos from the vehicle and restraining him until police arrived. Matos was charged with murder, carjacking, leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death, and leaving the scene of an accident resulting in personal injury, and is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
