Narrative
On Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at approximately 2:30 a.m., a Massachusetts State Police cruiser struck a deer on the southbound side of Route 24 near Routes 106 and 104 in West Bridgewater. The West Bridgewater Fire Department responded to the scene, and while Engine 2 was on location with firefighters working outside the apparatus, a motor vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed struck the fire truck from the rear.
No firefighters were injured in the collision. The driver of the striking vehicle was transported to Boston Medical Center South. Both the fire truck and the striking vehicle sustained damage, and one lane of travel on Route 24 southbound was shut down for several hours.
