Narrative
At approximately 2:35 a.m. on Friday, May 29, 2026, a passenger bus operated by E&P Travel Inc. failed to slow for traffic queued on southbound Interstate 95 near Quantico in Stafford County, Virginia, and struck six vehicles that had slowed for an upcoming work zone. Five people were killed — four members of the Doncev family of Greenfield, Massachusetts (Dmitri, 45; Ecaterina, 44; daughter Emily, 13; and son Mark, 7), who were in a vehicle that caught fire, and an unidentified 25-year-old woman from Worcester, Massachusetts, who was in a struck SUV.
Forty-four people were transported to area hospitals, including three in critical condition. The bus carried approximately 34 passengers at the time of the crash. Bus driver Jing S. Dong, 48, of Staten Island, New York, was also hospitalized; charges are pending against him. The National Transportation Safety Board dispatched a go-team to investigate.
Virginia State Police and the NTSB are actively investigating the cause of the crash. Full details are developing.
