Narrative
On Wednesday, May 6, 2026, just after 2:00 a.m., Massachusetts State Police Trooper Kevin Trainor, 30, was fatally injured when his cruiser was struck on Route 1 northbound near the Saugus-Lynnfield line in Lynnfield, Massachusetts, by a Jeep driven by Hernan Marrero, 50, of Roslindale, who was traveling southbound in a northbound lane.
Trooper Trainor was transported to Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, where he was later pronounced dead. Marrero was pronounced dead at the scene. Trainor, assigned to the Danvers barracks and a member of the Massachusetts State Police since 2023, is survived by his mother Barbara, his fiancée Jessica, and several siblings.
